Discarded laptops from T-Systems Slovakia s.r.o. got a second chance and from Monday 6.5.2020 help in the non-profit organization Dorka, OZ Maják nádeje and OZ Usmej  sa na mňa. AfB Slovakia s.r.o has tested and refurbished 42 laptops, which, after fulfilling their role with our partner T-Systems, found a new application in the afore mentioned organizations. All computers have undergone a thorough data erasure process, testing, cleaning and installation, and can thus continue to function at 100% and help, especially in the online education of compulsory school children.

20 laptops have been donated to the non-profit organization Dorka, these laptops were received by the director of the organization, Ing. Jolana Šuleková together with Mgr. Barbora Horniak, methodologist of professional activities. RNDr. Jozef Ondáš, PhD., MBA, Chairman of the board of Dorka was also present during this event. The Dorka center provides assistance and housing in its centers in Košice, Prešov, Zvolen and Ružomberok to children, young adults and families who have found themselves in a crisis situation since 2007.

Another 12 laptops were taken over for the Civic Association Maják nádeje by the head of the center for families in need, Mgr. Petra Nagyová. Since 2010, this non-governmental non-profit civic association has been striving to protect human dignity, mitigate and eliminate the causes of moral and material misery of families in need with financial and material assistance, as well as help in the field of social and educational activities.

The director of Civic Association Usmej sa na mňa Ing. Dagmar Kočiová was pleased with 10 laptops, which will be used by hearing, visually, mentally and physically impaired children and youth from this association. Integration of chidlren and youth is the main goal, which brings together the parents, teachers and doctors of these exceptional children. By organizing various sports and cultural events, they have been helping them to integrate into society and, by raising awareness of these people to the public, they have been breaking down prejudices since 2004.

"I am glad that in cooperation with AfB we managed to support one of the most vulnerable groups at a time, when many things stopped working and when schoolchildren had to stay at home and be dependent on distance education. I hope that this act will allow children to stay in touch with school, education and also friends with our refurbished laptops. I believe, that they will be used for online education (e-learning) and thus the children will be able to develop their talents and skills. And maybe it will also inspire some children to look for a future career in the IT world," said Martin Džbor, Lead of Strategy Development Chapter at T-Systems Slovakia.

Dávid Mick, Operations Director of AfB Slovakia, has taken over the pleasant obligation to hand over equipment to these non-profits. "Although we all had facemasks on our faces, it was great to see the smile of people who dedicate their time and energy to helping others. I was also surprised by small gifts of gratitude, which will surely find a place of honor in our office. A big word of thanks goes to the company T-Systems, which donated the computers to help children who do not have the resources and opportunities to learn online in these difficult times, "he said.

„Our cooperation with T-Systems Slovakia s.r.o. is largely based on donating their discarded hardware to people in need. We are glad that we managed to agree on cooperation with a company that is known for its social commitment and we are looking forward to further projects, "added Marek Antoňák, CEO of AfB Slovakia.
